Lesson 2 – Family

Let’s learn some words to talk about muwili family members and yura people. We’ll learn to talk about our family and ask questions about other people’s families as well.

We’ll also have a look at some more general words for people, and practise some simple sentences using what we’ve learnt.

Talking about people and family

Wara means who lhulakadu means that other one and kunukunu means small child.

Wara lhulakadu kunukunu?
Who is that other small child?

 

Nhulu means he, she and wangka means name.

Nhulu wangka Bobby.
His name is Bobby.

 

Wara means who nyuntu means you and nhiwa means wife.

NOTE: The Yarluyandi word for ‘your’ could be used here, however this word is unknown at the time of writing.

Wara nyuntu nhiwa?
Who is your wife?

 

Nganhi means I nhiwa means wife and wangka means name.

NOTE: The Yarluyandi word for ‘my’ could be used here, however this word is unknown at the time of writing.

Nganhi nhiwa wangka Jessie.
My wife is named Jessie.
